Whoever thinks this makes them a wine expert, or anything other than a beginner, has pretty low standards. I was very disappointed with the quality of the book. It’s really nothing more than a somewhat long web page article. And a horribly edited one at that. I was baffled on nearly every page by the order of thought and by simple grammatical mistakes. One would think that a book of this length would take care in not wasting words… but you’d be wrong. 3-4 sentences are used to say the same thing in slightly different ways, adding nothing of value. The paragraphs, and sometimes even sentences do not flow together at all. It’s almost as if someone read a bunch of articles on wine and just copied sentences and pasted them together from various sources.

Here’s an example of the common mistakes:

“Chapter 5: Health Benefits of Wine. Let us have a detailed look at the health benefits of red wine. Scientists firmly believe that the key is to health a benefit of red wine is the antioxidants present in it.”

This kind of terrible writing was found at least on every page.

I can’t complain too much, as this was only $0.98, but in all honesty, spend an hour on Wikipedia and you’ll probably be better informed.

Yes, 60 minutes, you can be a wine expert and I am proof!

I knew I enjoyed wine and our family has been raised around wine all our lives but a knowledge outside of “red,” “white” “expensive,” “cheap,” and “Merlot is nice, boxed wine isn’t” is about the extent of our knowledge.

Patricia Avla taught us a lot about wine and I thought enough of this book that I wanted to share it with you. She not only scratches the surface which is all I thought I wanted, but she takes you far deeper and makes wine a new experience. For example, she explains the various kinds of wines and where they come from. She explores the health benefits of wine which OPENED OUR EYES as we didn’t realize how healthy wine can be. But what I got the most out of is the information about how to taste wine to enjoy it to the fullest, how to test various wines, and how to enjoy the wine EXPERIENCE. (If you ever watched Frasier, you know how snobs some people can be about wine, right? It turns out, WE can know as much as they! 🙂 )

To enjoy wine and get the most out of its experience, get Wine – 60 Minute Expert. It will add to the quality of your enjoyment.

60 minutes later…not an expert. The book gives you less than a conversation with a clerk at the local wine store–and those occasionally come with a taste and some tips to boot.
